Hantavirus outbreak is stable. Risk stays low globally.

Calm, But Not Done Yet

The hantavirus problem on the MV Hondius has leveled off. There are no new cases since late May. The totals stand at 13 infected and 3 dead.

The ECDC agrees. They count 12 confirmed and 1 probable case. The risk for Europe is very low.

Don’t Let Your Guard Down

Andes hantavirus has a long incubation period. It can take up to 6 weeks to show. So a new case could pop up any day now.

Travelers are now in 23 different countries. Many are under quarantine. But the virus doesn't hurry. Not everyone has symptoms yet.

The WHO says case numbers might climb. "It's not growing worse. It means our net is working."
