Numbers rising

ECDC updated the MV Hondius outbreak data. 13 cases: 12 confirmed, 1 probable. Three deaths.

One probable case was reclassified. The lab test came back positive.

Risk remains low

ECDC still assesses the risk as very low for the EU population. But they remind: the incubation period reaches 6 weeks.

New cases could emerge at any moment. The virus does not forgive carelessness.

For now, the outbreak is contained. But experience teaches: hantavirus requires constant vigilance. Especially with Andes virus — the only hantavirus known to spread from person to person.
